Indications of blepharoplasty
The eyes are perhaps our most important facial features. ‘They are the mirror of the
soul’ and have the ability to show our feelings, and emotions, and to greatly influence
overall facial expressions.
Blepharoplasty results can be extremely dramatic, restoration of a more youthful
appearance of the pre-orbital area and a less fatigued look can dramatically affect ones
facial aesthetic appearance, perhaps more that any other facial cosmetic procedure.

How is blepharoplasty performed
Every year, one hundred thousand men and women choose blepharoplasty to improve the way
they look. Droopy eyelids can make you look older and can also impair vision in some
cases.
Blepharoplasty corrects these problems and also removes puffiness and bags under the
eyes that make you look worn and tired. This procedure cannot alter dark circles, fine lines
and wrinkles around the eyes, nor can it change sagging eyebrows.
Though blepharoplasty is often performed as a single procedure, your surgeon may also
recommend a browlift, facelift, or skin resurfacing to achieve the best results.

Risks and possible complications
Blepharoplasty is a relatively safe and effective operation when compared to many more widely
invasive plastic and aesthetic surgical operations.
The vast majority of patients who undergo cosmetic eyelid surgery are pleased with their
results.
Suitability for this type of treatment, as with any other treatment, will be assessed by
the surgeon at consultation, but is based on several factors, such as the quality and
elasticity of the skin, the amount of fat requiring removal and the general condition of the
patient and past medical history.
